IMU-CET Registration 2027

Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test or IMU CET is a national level entrance test held by Indian Maritime University for admission in various undergraduate and postgraduate maritime courses. This exam is considered as the main route for all those aspirants who desire to pursue a career in the Merchant Navy, marine engineering, nautical science, naval architecture or other disciplines. IMU CET Registration 2027 Important Dates

Aspirants who intend to take the IMU CET 2027 exam must ensure that they remain aware of the official admission calendar so that no important deadline is missed. All dates related to the entrance examination are announced by the Indian Maritime University (IMU) on its official admissions portal.

IMU CET Registration Eligibility Criteria

Prior to applying online, aspirants must make sure that they fulfill all the specified eligibility criteria for IMU CET. Any non-compliance of these eligibility criteria may result in the rejection of the form/application or even cancellation of the admission.

Educational Qualifications

Applicants who seek admission via IMU CET must be a pass holder in Class 12 (10+2) or equivalent examination. In most of the UG courses of maritime studies, applicants must score a minimum of 60% marks in PCM subjects. Candidates who wish to apply for the diploma/lateral entry course must meet the required educational qualification criteria. Candidates who still don’t have their Class 12 results but can meet the required qualification criteria at the time of admission will also be eligible to apply for the IMU CET 2027.

Age Limit

There is no common age limit for IMU CET. However, the age limit depends upon the course and category of the applicant. Usually, the age limit is set up to be 25 years for the general male category, and relaxation in age is available to OBC (NCL) and SC/ST candidates according to IMU Admission Guidelines. There is also some relaxation available for female and transgender candidates.

Requirements for Medical Fitness

Being medically fit is one of the important requirements for getting admitted to maritime courses. Either candidates have to be medically fit by a DG Shipping-approved medical practitioner or they have to produce their fitness certificate as per the course they wish to join. These requirements include good vision, hearing capacity and physical fitness as well, so that they can withstand the pressures of maritime studies.

English Marks Requirement

Candidates must have passed with at least 50% marks in English in class 10 or class 12 examination. This is an important criterion for almost all the IMU CET undergraduate courses. Though certain special relaxations might exist as per categories notified by IMU, normally, students have to satisfy this requirement for registration.

Documents Required for IMU CET Registration

Before proceeding with the IMU CET registration, candidates need to keep all the required documents prepared in the recommended format. Proper uploading of the documents will ensure that there is no rejection of the application process. Below are the required documents.

Photograph Guidelines

Candidates need to upload the recent colored passport-sized photograph with a plain background of white or light color. The photograph needs to be uploaded in JPG/JPEG format as per the specifications provided by IMU. The face needs to be visible without wearing sunglasses or heavy editing. According to the recent guideline, the photograph needs to be of size 10 KB to 200 KB.

Signature Guidelines

The other document required at the time of registration is the candidate’s scanned signature. The signature needs to be written on white paper with black or blue ink. It needs to be uploaded in JPG/JPEG format.

10 & 12 Mark Sheets

It is mandatory for the applicants to upload the scanned copy of the Class 10 mark sheet which serves as evidence of date of birth and Class 12 mark sheet (if available). In cases where the result of Class 12 is pending, the applicant might be permitted to apply with the option of ‘result awaited’ based on the rules and regulations of IMU. The document is generally accepted in PDF, JPG, or JPEG format with a maximum size of 1 MB.

Category Certificate

The candidates applying for reservation categories such as SC, ST, OBC-NCL, or EWS must submit a valid category certificate issued by the concerned authority. The category certificate is issued in the prescribed format and is valid based on the notification of admission. The applicants who belong to the general category need not submit this document.

IMU CET Registration Fee

Application Registration Fee: Rs.800/- for candidates from SC/ST category and Rs.1200/- for all others (General, General-EWS and OBCNCL). Application Registration Fee is non-refundable. 

(a) Basic Registration – This is for generating the Application Number and Password

 (b) Detailed Registration – This has the following steps: (i) Capturing further details on Personal Information, (ii) Academic Details (iii) Documents Upload (Photo Signature and necessary marksheets / certificates). (iv) Making Online Payment. Note: Basic Registration does not mean the candidate has successfully submitted the Application Form. Only after completing the Detailed Registration with online payment towards Application Registration Fee.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

No, mostly not. After you have completed submitting the application form and made the payment, you cannot make any changes to information like name, date of birth, scores, or category once the application process is completed by IMU. 

In case your payment is deducted, but the status of the application is still pending: You should wait for at least 24-48 hours.Look for the “Verify My Payment” option provided in the IMU application portal.If the transaction ends up being unsuccessful, the deducted payment will be credited back to the original source.If you encounter any difficulty even after waiting for some time, then contact IMU via official admission email.

Depending on the course and institution: For IMU affiliated courses such as B.Tech (Marine Engineering) and B.Sc. Nautical Science,DNS(Diploma in Nautical science), the admission into these courses via IMU would usually mean that they require IMU CET.

Although the exact date of the registration process for IMU CET 2027 has not yet been announced, according to previous trends, it can be assumed that the application process will begin in the first week of February 2027.
